I read my Nosler #4 book very carefully and noticed a paragraph on how Nosler developed load data for the Ackley Improve 30-06. Get this; Straight from Nosler:
"These loads have been developed based on the S.A.A.M.I. maximum average pressure limit for a STANDARD .30-06 Springfield (60,000 P.S.I.)"
So, I'm scratching my head to see if I read this information right. And that's what it said.

I'm thinking; I've got a standard 30-06 with a strong action. Let me take this load data for Ackley Improved 06 and apply this to a standard 30-06

The load I used was:

180 gr. Partition
62 gr. Reloader 22
FED primers
Winchester Nickel Brass

The end result on the Chronograph from a 24 in barrel: A true 2800 to 2820 fps.

The best thing about this was, no sticking bolt, no signs of high pressure, i.e. primers being cupped, brass and so on. Granted this is out of my rifle only, which is a Model 700. This is now the load I use for my 30-06 and 180 grainers.

Just thought I would share to see if any of you have done a similar loadings with 30-06.

I've pushed 165 Noslers up to the mid 2900s in several standard 06s using the same components as you did with a different charge weight of powder of course. (22" barrels). Like I have stated before RL-22 gives the 06 a nice testesterone boost with 165-200gr bullets. sure-shot

CK...Nosler isn't saying that the Ackely Improved version loads are safe in a normal .30/06, what they are saying is they limited pressure to what the .30/06 case (and by inference any wildcat based on .30/06 brass) is capable of standing....your loads are stressing your cases. One way to test this is to fire the load you are using in the same case 5 or 6 times and if you notice ANY loosening of the primer pocket you are too hot.

I would strongly suggest you call the Nosler hot-line number and discuss what you are doing with them as you have misread what they meant.

Since every rifle has a little difference in the chamber size, what works in my rifle maybe to hot of a load in yours. I don't have any signs of pressure problems. If I started having primer pocket problems, I would certainly know by now.
One thing to note; I'm not getting the velocity of a Ackley Improved 30-06. I'm getting out of the chronograph 2800-2820 FPS: The Ackley Improved 06 should be 2950 FPS.
Another note: This load I use matches the same velocity as the Federal Premium HE 30-06 loads. This is hunting rifle, and maybe I push 75-100 roundds through it a year.
