Hello everyone, im rather new to this forum and i can see that there are some very experianced shooters here. Last summer i got my hunter permit after some hard studying with our new test here in sweden and then i bought a Rem Mod 597 LHB .22lr for som plinking. This is a very nice rifle and pretty accurate. But this x-mas i bought the pride of my weapon locker a Rem 700 VS composite in 22-250 this is a very nice rifle and im very happy with my investment. Now to the actual question, are there any modifications that any of you would recomend for this rifle ? It is fitted with a Shirstone 4-12X44 target scope with a really thin x-hair. Welcome to the AR forums Patrick. As to modifications to your Remington may I suggest you add some ammo and go to the range to shoot some sighting rounds and then do a few three shot groups. Eventually the gun will tell you what it needs....maybe a trigger adjustment....maybe some bedding help. But then maybe nothing at all. The .22-250 rifles I've owned all shot very well so you will have to have high expectations of it. Post some pics of the groups when you get it shooting the way you like. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Start with a skim bed and adjust or replace the trigger . Some reloaded ammo that is tuned to suit the rifle . Next would be a better scope . True the action , lap bolt lugs , replace recoil lug and firing pin , add a quality barrel (chambered for .22/250 Ackley) and you've got a real shooter . The more you spend , the better it gets . How deep is your wallet ? The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. If youre lucky all you need to do is a quick trigger adjustment, you should also consider another scope - Leupold, Nikon, S&B, Zeiss - it REALLY makes a difference. I've got an 700VSSF rechambered to 22-250AI, 2000 shots later it still shoots sub 10mm groups at 100 meters with 'good' bullets.

Work up an accurate load and then shoot the dog crap out of it. Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics; even if you win, you're still retarded.

I agree with Laner. If your Remington has the lawyer (very heavy trigger pull) trigger, you want to adjust that to about 2.5 - 3 pounds but other than that, you should be good to go.

Ok guys tnx for your inputs, no it dont have a heavy trigger pull, it feels rather nice i would say. I have just fired of about 50 rounds yet cuz we have a pretty tough winter here this year, snow and low temperatures. I have done my military service creaping around in snow up to my ears and arctic temps. Now ill just wait for some spring signs.
