I just returned from sighting in the new 204,Using factory 32 gr ammo.

You really have to love a CZ.

The last 3 shot group after I finished sighting in was 1/4 inch @ 100 yds. I quit while I was ahead with three shots instead of my normal five.

I think this is going to shoot better than I can!!!!

Trshep: Congratulations on your fine shooting Rifle and your performance with it.

3 shot group or not - using factory ammo and a factory Rifle - that is fine shooting! Again good for you both!

I have two factory Varmint Rifles in caliber 204 Ruger - one is the Ruger 77 V/T and the other is the Remington 700 VLS. Both shoot very well indeed! I have shot both the 32 gr. factory Hornady ammo and the 40 gr. factory ammo in both Rifles and all mentioned performed BETTER than just satisfactory! I was impressed with all combos.

I have only tried one recipe in each Rifle of handloaded cartridges. That load consisted of Berger 35 gr. bullets, H4895 powder and Federal 205M primers. The results in both Rifles was so good that I have tried no other loadings whatsoever!

I have also used both factory Hornady loadings on Varmints with excellent results. I have yet to take a Fox or a Coyote with either of my new Rifles or any bullet but Ground Squirrels, Skunks, Prairie Dogs, Jack Rabbits and some flying Varmints were EMPHATICALLY harvested with all ammo used!

In my opinion this 204 Ruger is going to be a real winner. It shoots fast, flat, has very low recoil and accuracy is easily obtained by most all users!

I wish you continued happiness and good luck with your CZ!

By the way which Model do you have?

I have been hesitant to go with the CZ's in the various rimfire and small centerfire calibers due to the objectionable (to me anyway) hanging down clip magazines!

Be sure and try the 35 gr. Bergers in your 204!

Hold into the wind

My CZ is a walnut stocked 527 Varmint.

I'm like you I would prefer not having the hang down magazine but they shoot so well I can tolerate it.

My 204 is number 2 in my collection, I also have a 17 Remington in the same model and it shoots consistantly 1/2 with 20 gr V Max.

VG after reading some of your posts I have come to the conclusion, That you really need a CZ. The drop down mag doesn't do much for the lines of the rifle I will agree, But once you get used to it, it becomes a non issue, plus there is a guy that can modifiy it and it will only hang down about 3/4" albeit 1 round less compacity. Shooting from the bench I simply throw in a cartridge and the CRF picks it up and puts it in as if on ball bearings. I have the kevlar varmit in 223. perfact walking varmiter @7.5#'s without scope. The trigger is easily adjusted by the owner so that saves a gunsmith trigger job or trigger replacement. I am now really wanting the carbine version in 223. One of the best deals in guns right now is a used CZ if you can find one, as very few know about them and they can be had for much cheaper than new

Truth be told most all of us except a gifted few have rifles that shoot better than we do. We all need more practice! Hell if I could pull it off all I'd do is practice! Ask my wife.
