does anybody here have any experience with the 250-3000 AI in the Model 99? I have a chance to buy one and it seems intriguing. 100 grn bullet at 3200 fps claimed. Any truth to that?

Yes, I had an 18" barrelled 600 Rem that would give 3200fps with a 100 Sierra.

In addition, you should be able to use higher-pressure loads in the AI case than the standard one in your M99, because the case is straighter, grips the chamber walls better. Consequently it produces less bolt thrust when fired.

I would make sure the rifle feeds correctly from the magazine. I have heard it can be a bear to make the Savage 99's feed the AI cases from the rotory magazine. Other then that it is a great round and great rifle. I have one comming in the standard 250 Savage.
