I'm
considering bying a Finlight in 6.5x55 but a sales-man told me it is only good for 1 accurate shot, being light and short barrled where his reason. Has anyone out there got a Finlight and how does it group and generally shoot.
Cheers

Nonsense. Many light barrelled rifle are quite accurate for 3 shots (my standard for hunting rifle groups).

Furthermore, Sako's are one of the very best factory rifles and an inaccurate Sako is a rare bird.

In fact, I'll bet that Sako with the light and short barrel will outshoot 90% of the Winchesters, Remingtons, Ruger and Savages -- even with varmint weight barrels. (and I've had all these guns so I'm not just bashing them).

The salesman doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

The Sako finnlight isn't a ultra light rifle with almost no material left.

The differns bewin it and a Sako 75 isn't that big. Ofcourse there are now free lunches, but Sako hasn't gone overboard on it "light" rifle.

A short barrel doesn't effect accurasy much as far as I understand. A light one will get hot faster, but the practical differns betwin a standard hunting barrel and a finnlight, isn't big. I have seen one at the range. Didn't do bad. I didn't notise that the owner had do fire it slowly or that accurasy got poor after a number of shoots. I had more problems with my remington 700 in 308 that he had with his Finnlight.

Personly I don't like ultra light rifles, I don't like the extra recoil, makes me shoot much worse, but the Sako isn't do light.

You should try it your self, and ask if you sales man has shot the finnlight much?

In 6.5 it weighs 3.1kg. A 75 weighs 3.6 in 6.5.

PS

The only thing that pisses me off about the rifle it the "el cheapo" stock that is made by tupperware and it needs to be replaced for a better one. Sako normally shhoter good and doubt that you would get a dud one.

PS, Johan is right about the stock. I am a Sako fanatic, however, I think the new synthetic stock is a joke, especially on a $1,100 rifle - it's something you would find on a remington.

I believe there is a "like new" Finnlight on www.GunsAmerica.com with the factory stock and a kevlar stock (possibly McMillan) for $1,095. Sounds like a good deal to me. I will forward the listing. Dr. Lou

ps: Your salesman does not know what he's talking about.
