At the SHOT show Lapua has introduced a new 6.5 round for long range target. Called the 6.5x47 Lapua it is similar to the 308 in size but at high pressure of 63,000 psi !....I wonder how close the ballistics will be to the 260 ?

Since the 260 is a 6.5x51, how much REAL different can there be, unless the Lapua round uses a larger/smaller diameter case or an unusually long/short neck? Jeff

Haven't seen a picture of it. The only 6.5X47 I have seen is actually the 222Mag necked up to 6.5. BR shooters used the 6X45 (6mmx223) and 6X47 (6mmX222mag). If this is the same case it has only about 60% of the capacity of the 260. When you move from 60-63,000 you will only gain in the range of 50FPS. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
