Bringing a Model 70 Westerner out of retirement to hunt coyotes this winter and antelope next fall. I have read most of the archives on loads . I am thinking of the Nosler 125 grain Partition or the 130 grain Accubond. I believe my rifle has a 1 in 9 twist.
The powders I am seeing used for these bullets are RL33 and IMR7828. Winchester Supreme 780 shows the highest velocity. Anyone use S780?
What are some of your best loads for long range hunting with the .264?

I am a firm believer in IMR 4350. The Sierra manual can give you the best loading info.

My westerner shoot sub MOA with 140 accubonds and Rel 33.
I worked up and settled on 73 grains.

I hope you're not planning on keeping the 'yote hides.

Or maybe you're just really good at stitching holes in coyote pelts?

I shot a lot of 125 Partition then found the 130 Acubond which my rifle likes better. Both WORK great.

You meant to say blow up coyotes...right?

I've shot several coyotes with a Berger 140 Elite Hunter out of a 6.5 SAUM. All have had about a silver dollar sized hole. I dont like to sew hides but I feel these could have been saved with needle and thread.

It's not a bang flop deal like my 17 Remington, 204 Ruger or 223. They run like hell for 50+ yards then finally expire, haven't hit shoulder or major bones though.

It doesn't always have to blow them up. I regularly shoot coyotes with my 6.5x284 using the 142 grain Sierra matchkings. They work really well at long distances. Nice little .264 diameter holes, in and out.

I shot this one at 732 yards.

I have shot many with my regular deer load.
120 nosler solidbase and a case full of IMR 7828.
No blown up coyotes if shot through the ribs. Usually a short run and drop dead running.

Im not into long distance shooting so my Sakos, an L461 custom in 6x45, and a SAko L-46 in 222 have been my coyote rifles for years..We probably have the best coyote hunting in the USA, get lots of long shots but usually don't shoot beyond 300 yards, mostly 150 to 200 yards as a matter of fact, all on BLM land, the Oywaee desert, bigger than some states..Calling works great, sitting over dead cows at a border dairy, an just driving around and taking whats offered is relaxing day of hunting.

My 264 loves 125 Partitions with 7828. 3300fps.

Any brand preference for .264 Winchester Magnum brass?
Most of our shots on coyotes are 150-500 yards . We are hunting large cattle/sheep ranches and usually not calling.

I always liked WW brass, but wouldn't pass up Rem if that was available.

Tha last batch of Winchester 264 brass I bought was pure crap. I had to scrap at least 10 out of each bag. Some were crushed, some with necks split already (new mind you), etc. I bought the Prvi brass and it is great.

For powder, I use IMR 4831 and have great resilts.

That sucks! My whole supply, several hundred, is from 20-30 yrs ago. I'll never need more, but it's good to know these things!

For now I am going to try Nosler’s 125 grain Partition and 129 grain Accubond Long Range with a healthy dose of IMR7828, Norma brass and see how that works out.

100 grain Barnes TTSX bullets in my .264 Win Mag do wonders for deer.....I use IMR 7828 because I have it for other rounds.....It's a fine slow burn powder.

I just use 7 mm rem mag brass for my 264 win mag .I have had no problems doing so .That's the only brass that's been in my rifle from the start .I get it for about .08 each so it's a bargain. I THINK the 156 grain Berger bullet and a 28 inch barrel on the 264 win mag is the ticket to long range hunting. If I ever burn out my 24 inch barrel that Is what is going on there next .I am only getting 200 fps faster with that 24 inch barrel than my 22 inch barrel 260 rem with 155 grain bullets
