I'll be using this powder in an AR-15, 20" barrel 1:9 twist with 55gr. Hornady SP. I know its a little slower than regular 2230, but have heard conflicting reports on what load data to use. Should I start with regular 2230 data or with a powder just slightly slower like 4895 data?

Also, anyone use this behind 55gr bullets? I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences. At just over $60 for 8lbs I'd like to make this powder work.

Might try the AA site for help. I was around a shooter using the 2230c in a 223, and it was loud! He said his load was right out of the book. Worked great, just louder than expected.
Let us know how it works.

I called Accurate, they said the 2230c was closer to AA-2460 in burn rate. If you look at their data, not much difference between 2230 and 2460.

AA used to have some 2230-C specific information right up front on their web page about 2230-C but I could not find any mention of it on a visit right now. Guess they assume most of it is off of the markeToo bad they would stumble accross another batch of 2200!

Hello: AA2230c is doing very well in several of my 223's. Amazingly in a superlight 16" bushy 1/9 with almost any 55 fmj it really shoots better than I do. Will hold 10 ring sr-1 at 100. I used 2230 data, ending up at 3 gr over book, at 2.245 loaded length. Cases remain in good condition through 4 reloads. Nighttime fireball bigger than a football though. Working on the second 8 lb. now. Matter of fact, I reread your post and saw about the hornady you use, I have also used midway's 55 varmint extreme flatbase w/c soft point (hornady?) with super results at 300. I think it is slower than 335. Go slow, follow AA advice. Good shooting. ned

I recieved an email from accurate today and they said you could safely use 2460 data. I'll work up from that and see what happens. Thanks for all the help so far
