I reacently decided to try some Hodgdon BLC-2 in my 22-250. I was wondering if anyone had a load that shot well using this powder with a 45-55gr bullet?

Also, I see data from some bullet manufactures but not others. Is BLC-2 a newer powder?

Any load data or insight would be appreciated.

BL-C2 has been around for quite a while. I think the main reason it's not seen in a lot of manufacturer's data for the 22-250 is because it's burn rate is too fast to be ideal for that cartridge.

I've never tried it in mine but have tried AA2230 and H322 but had better results with slower powders like H4895 and W760.

Well I have tried tons of powders in my 22-250 and I am just trying to find one that yeilds the results I am looking for.

So far I have tried

IMR 4350
IMR 4320
IMR 4064
Hodgdon H380
Hodgdon H4350
Hodgdon Varget
Hodgdon Benchmark
Win 760

I have had some good loads, but not what I am really looking for. Either way, now that I have a lb of powder I am just looking for a good load for this 22-250.

Thanks for the help

I thought I would give an update as to my "perfect load" search. Hopefully this can help somone in the same position I am in.

I have a friend with the exact same gun, and he decided to try some reloader 10x. After seeing the performance in his gun I had to try it myself.

Reloader 10x is where it's at! This powder really does out perform any that I have tried so far. It is extruded, is smaller in mass than Varget, and meters as well as BLC-2. It's some good stuff.

The groups were even better. I think I found something to fine tune. I loaded up:

53gr Sierra Match Kings
32gr Reloader 10x
Winchester Cases
Fed 210M Primers
2.40 OAL

This group shot consistantly under 1/2 inch which is about the most consistancy I have seen from this rifle since the date of purchase.

My buddy loaded them down to 30gr of Reloader with even better results. I think now we just need to tweak this load a little bit and we will have a real shooter.

I did decide to shoot 200 yards with the gun, and got about a 5 shot 2 inch group. I know, I know, nothing stellar, but I think with a better point of aim and more daylight I will be able really shink the groups. (The targets I was using had a 3 inch "X" ring, and it was dark so I couldn't crank it up to 32 power.) My buddy proceded to steal the show with a 1 inch group with his 338-378 and he was having to shoot fast because we were loosing daylight in a hurry. Mad That jackass always seems to try to one up me. You know who you are Smiler

Overall I must say, if you have not tried reloader 10x, give it a go.

On a side note, some might find it interesting that I was able to push a Speer 50gr TNT HP at 3650-3680FPS without having it come appart at 100. It did group at about 1 inch, but I expected to see shotgun patterns at that velocity.

I will post another update once I get done shooting on Tuesday. (Berger 55gr bullets and Reloader 10x Smiler )

I've used BL(C)-2 in the .22-250 with very poor results,,,,it didn't yield the velocity it should have. I'd stick to H-380 or H-414 in the 22-250.
