Having just acquired a chronograph, I decided to set it up in the back yard and chronograph my neighborhood squirrel load, the CB long. The 29 gr bullet registered 725fps giving 33 ftlbs of bone crushing energy. The local squirrels have developed a taste for plastic and paint and have been destroying my sprinkler system and eating the soffets off the neighborhood homes. This load out of my Ruger M77/22 with Leupold 4X is perfect for 20yd head shots. I live on a golf course, so CB's or pellets are all that I can use

There's more than one way to use a pellet. I bought a box of .25 cal pellets and altered a handful of .25-35 cases and another of .250-3000 cases to take shotgun primers. the result was nearly noiseless and gave 1.5" 25 yard groups with enough remaining oomph to sink the pellet below the face of my plywood target backer.
