I've had nothing but good luck with the Sierra in my 260. Good accuracy. I put down a 180 lbs (field dressed) buck three years ago with them. He was angling towards me (I was between him and his "preferred" cover) and I shot him at about 60 yds. That shot broke his right shoulder, penetrated through the lungs, liver, and bowel, exiting just ahead of the left ham. I put a second one into him as he passed me at about 20 yds. This one hit a bit further back, destroying what was left of his liver. As such it was a complete pass through also, hitting nary a rib. He was, course, already dead on his feet and dropped just a few seconds after the second round. I've also shot a few does with this round/bullet at ranges out to 150-200 yds with excellent performance there, also. My sister has taken up deer hunting again, and I'll be allowing her to use my 260 until she can get her own gun. I'll be loading it with Sierras. Cooter

My hunting club has a little over 5,000 acres leased from a timber company where I hunt whitetail here in Ark. Most places are thick and your lucky to be able to see 100yds. There are a few clearcuts on the property however, where a 1/4 mile section may be cleared. Long and short of it is that a 25 - 50 yd shot is more likely than a shot over 100 yds. Most bucks here weigh less than 150 lb. Have killed one buck on the lease with a field dressed weight of 145 lb. I will be hunting with a 260 AI. I recently had the barrel shortened to 22" from 24". Now I need to work up a deer load to use in a few weeks. Have a box of 120g Sierra Pro Hunter bullets lying on the shelf and am thinking of trying them. Can probably push them 2,950 - 3,000 fps in the 260 AI. Only reservation I have is hitting a shoulder on a close shot (maybe 25yds) with a muzzle velocity near 3,000 fps. I typically don't aim for the shoulder but it can easily be clipped. Called Sierra and they said this bullet would shoot through both shoulders in this scenario. Claimed the 120g Pro Hunter was the perfect bullet for this application. What are your thoughts? Should I have any reservations? I could just as easily load up the 129g Hornady, 125g Partition, or 100g Partition (all sitting on the shelf). Used the 100g Partition last year on 1 buck.....made it about 70 yds. Sure can't draw a conclusion from an example of one but was thinking a bullet with a little more lead to expand might drop them a little quicker. Thoughts? HogWild

Just a thought on any advice you get from Sierra. I have had to call them a time or two with a question that needed answering, or a problem that needed solving. I have learned the following: "You can take whatever they tell you right to the bank." I wish everyone I deal with was as cooperative and as knowledgable. Their willingness to help you borders on obsession. This is the main reason I limit myself to Sierra products. They have earned my trust, and therefore my business.
