To those in the know:

I have the chance to pick up a Anschutz 1574 Sporter in 243win. It has no import stamps (not even Savage) and looks nearly unfired. I have heard many glowing things about Anschutz 22's but, know nothing about their centerfire rifles. Please give me opinions. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Vlad

While I am not familiar with that particular model, the Anschutz lineup, as a whole, enjoys an enviable reputation for good workmanship and excellent accuracy.

are you sure it's a 243?

all the anschutz centerfire rifles I have ever seen are in 22 hornet and .222- with a warning rolled onto the receiver to not use any ammunition other than factory loads.

doesn't mean the 243's don't exist, but I have never seen one.

Dear tin can,

Yes, it is clearly marked .243 Win. From another posting on another site I learned that likely Krico built this rifle for Anschutz in the early 70's. It mentions that only around 1000 were imported into the USA.

I believe Frank DeHaas writes about Krico rifles in "Bolt Action Rifles", and, of course, I can't find my copy of the book at the moment Frowner

and this, scroll to "Krico 600 (First Series)":
