Remington, CZ, or Savage? Or maybe something different. (the above represent the price range I'm looking for)

Let's hear your votes.

What Vapodog said with one qualifier...if you get a Remmy, then don't get it from Wally World! Get one of the higher grades. Only Savage I own is a 22-250 and it shoots better than I can. Otherwise, I'm a CZ guy. Good luck!

Good hunting,

Andy

While I know all three companies make a quality product, it's just a matter of preference. Check them out on your shoulder and work the action a few times. just get a 'feel' for them till one stands out.

Remingtons are great, I would like the SPS in 6.8spc with a 26" barrel.

Savage has a great reputation to shoot nicely and are lightweight. Tang safety is a bonus. Great value

CZ are sturdy, and the integral rings/mounts are a nice touch, plus it's a CRF gun. I'm not sold on the set trigger, but thats just me.

I am currently fawning over a Weatherby Vanguard... Some reason it just fits my tastes.

I would buy the CZ just for the set trigger. I think they're a rugged gun in general but there may be some inconsistency in finish and the quality of the stock.

I've also been quite pleased with the Remingtons I've owned with the exception of a .22 semi auto the hammer spring of which is a little weak.

Savage has a good reputation but I have no personal experience with them.

Preston ----- I just bought a Brown A-Bolt in .243 WSSM and after shooting the barrel in with 15 factory rounds managed to get a one hole group on the 21-22-23 shots through the barrel. I have a pastle of Winchester Model 70's, a Sako, a Ruger # 1, two Weatherbys. All these are extremely accurate rifles but none were that accurate from the get go. You might consider the Browning along with all the others mentioned here. wave thumb Good shooting.
