I just picked up a new CZ 527 Varmint in 204 today. Got the first one to come in to Sportsman's Warehouse in Missoula ! I mounted a 4.5-14 Simmons Outfitter and am ready to go to the range. If anyone has a suggestion for loads for above with 32 V Max it would be appreciated. Looking forward to getting the rifle out and shooting it. Shep

trshep, Try 28.3 grains of H4895 and the Federal 205 Match primer behind the 32Vmax. My COL is 2.385 and that is 20/1000s off the lands. That's not maximum but it gives me 4089fps and consistent groups in the .3s from a Savage VLP. GHD

Are you going to use any of the factory loads? I'm thinking about buying the same rifle, but I don't reload.

I have a Savage 12VLP in .204 Ruger and bought 15 boxes of the 32 gr. factory ammo. I did the barrel breakin thing using a box and a half of 32 gr. factory ammo and 20 fire forming loads using .222 Remington Magnum brass, 27.0 gr. of H4895 and the 40 gr. Hornady V-Max bullets. I wasn't very impressed with the accuracy I was getting with the factory ammo. However, I sighted in my rifle with another 5 rounds of factory ammo and then went on a prairie dog shoot on July 5. I was going to limit my shots to probably no more than 100 to 125 yards because the earlier groups were really more like a pattern instead of a group. The rifle really surprised me and was shooting very accurately during that day in the PD towns. I made some hits out past 300 yards and put about 55 more rounds through it that day. You may want to get into reloading, because that is where you will wring out your best accuracy, but you should do OK with factory fodder too. I was out potting prairie poodles again yesterday. The dogs that are left out there are really skitterish and most of my shots were 175 yards or more. The rifle and factory ammo were up to the task! I put 85 rounds through the rifle yesterday. PD on left 185 yd shot and the one on the right would only peek his head out of his hole at 175 yards. He became the "headless prairie dog" as the 32 gr. factory load decapitated him except for a small piece of skin that kept the head from flying into the next county. Here's a closeup of that dog on the right, but turned over so his head shows. These 3 prairie dogs were the closest shots I had all day. The distances on these ranged from 75 yards on out to 100 yards. Just so you know there are some beautiful things to look at out on the prairie, I snapped a photo of some beautiful purple flowers right at sunset.

Thanks, nice pics, pretty country. I'll be using my .204 for fox and hopefully coyote. Factory loads still okay?

I have the same rifle in .17 Remington, it's a solid 1/2 inch rifle. I've been waiting for this one as my first .204 but I really wanted it in their Varmint Laminate, I have that configuration as well in a .223 and it shoots better than the .17 Rem. (Dandy rifles!) By all means keep us posted, should be a real shooter for you. While I've never loaded for the .204 yet I'd guess Benchmark to be a good powder, it's quite effective in my Tactical .20 as well as my .223's. Also if you could let us know if your CZ has the same long throat as the rest of the factory rifles? Can you get a 32 grainer shoved into the lands even if it doesn't fit the magazine??? By the way "Congrats"!!
