Well guys I finally have the barrel broke in on my 1885 low wall 22 Hornet. I am looking at putting togather a load with lil gun powder and some 40 grain v-max bullets.....

I have two questions, what should the COL be with this bullet? and second, how many grains of lil gun? I have read that you can't over presure the round with that powder but what are you guys finding that works best in your guns?

Thanks for the help,

Jay

.....The COL isn't the same for a single shot as with other guns...the "touch" length for the bullet you are shooting is all that matters and then you check for the length that your gun/chamber likes for accuracy....and I doubt that you will find anyones load that works "best" in your gun with your brass...find the "touch" distance and work up your load with that distance and then back the COL off....best done with a comparator for precision work, and then find the best combo for your gun.....I didn't use that powder in my Hornet and can't advise on a "load"......good luck and good shooting!

That's all true, but I will say that in my Contender carbine, I like 13 gr. Lil'Gun with the Hornady VMAX and CCI small pistol primers. That's THE load for my gun.
