I just picked up my 527 American 221 Wed. Stock is real nice, I saw a 223 at gander mountain that had the nicest stock I ever saw, I was hoping this one would be that nice but its not. Metal to wood is real tight, barrel is free floating, trigger was terrible waaaaay to much creep, I took it out of the stock and cleaned it up, Adjusted the trigger for creep, over travel was good,I need to borrow a trigger pull gauge to check the pull, I left it for now its not to bad. I really like the set trigger. The bolt was real rough at first Ive worked the bolt about 100 times and seems to be getting better all the time. Might have to polish it a little? Laoded the clip with 5 Dummy rounds to see if it would feed good, decided to use only 4 in clip. Will try to get out this weekend to break in and shoot some groups. Its been -20 all this week up here, might be +18 Sunday. Will follow up with my results. This is one of the nicest looking rifles I've ever owned, If it shoots as good as my 452 American it should be a real tack driver ?

Congrats!!!!! I just got mine in the 527 Varmint 17 Remington. Beautiful gun, way nicer piece of wood than you can get on an american factory gun. I love the trigger adjustments, after I got done with it, no creep, no overtravel, and about 2#'s. The set trigger is in ounces. Still waiting on my 17 cal cleaning rod to shoot it and break in the barrel properly. Let us know how it shoots!!!!

Congrats! I got just got one in .223. Wood looked better than my .22 hornet with some dark color and a bit of fiddleback in the butt. I mounted a Burris compact 4x12 and it looks real nice. Too cold for any range work, I'll wait until it get into the mid 20's before heading there. I adjusted the trigger too. I've got the set trigger set to near telepathy levels.

You guys in the cold weather need to ship your rifles to me in Texas, where they can be used immediately! The CZ Fireballs would be a nice complement to my two Remingtons (one a converted Rem 788). Why, I would even send them back when a 221 CZ shows up around here. :
Have fun, the Fireball is a great round. Several powders work well, some of the best being LilGun, AA1680, and RE7.

I think you will love the 221. I have a TC with a 22 inch barrel. I just love it!!!

I have formed cases for it from 5.56 (223) blank rounds. Case capacity is 19.8 grains.

My favorite load has been 16.4 gr of IMR 4227 with a 40 gr, molyed Serria Hollow Point. It runs right at 3000 fps and produces 3/8 to 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. I have been using Reloader 10X with the same bullet lately. Very accurate but I haven't been able to run them through my chronograph yet.

A couple of years a go I went out to Rocky Ford Colo. and shot up some prarie dogs with it. My longest shot was 365 yards. If the cute little thing was within 200 yards it was an assured double back flip and a red mist drifting in the wind.

Good luck with your new firestick
