I have a Styer SL in .222 and it is a really really nice gun. Well, all except the plastic rotary magazine. Does anyone make a replacement that works better? Or have any other ideas?

Those Steyrs are great rifles, from 222 to 458.

I do not know of any other choice other than the "plastic" rotary magazine.

Best advice is to get 2 or 3 extras.

Mike, I think the rotary magazines are made of Cycolac...don't think you'll be breaking one.

Oh, got it. I was thinking his concern was the durability of the "plastic" case.

Well maybe I'm using it incorrectly. There is an insert that, I think, makes it into a single shot and I like that. Taking it out allows 5 or so rounds to be loaded into the rotary magazine. So far so good. Then the magazine is difficult to get into the rifle and half the time the cartridges are spilled out in the effort. Stupid AND clumsy?

A friend of mine has had the same 30-06 for about 18 years and feed and function has been perfect, although I think he would like to find a mag or two extra.
