It's the new English Walnut stock option they recently added. It sure isn't one of those scandalous pieces of feathered crotch wood ya sometimes see but the rifle furniture and all was just a bit over $600.00.
At any rate it's gonna be a K-Hornet soon. My camera work stinks and doesn't do it justice at all but you get the idea.

Right

Don't know if they do the wood upgrades in the FS?

Interesting checkering on the fore-end. Nice looking rifle. I will be interested in how it shoots. Why are you going to the K?

In no particular order Peter: I'm retired, bored and need a hobby project (small calibers are my gig).
I have 2 other straight Hornets already.
I converted my last K into a wildcat called a .20 Killer Bee so I currently have all available .22 K-Hornet dies (including a Redding Competition Seater, neck dies etc) and on top of all that I have about 500 WW cases, which have flash holes reamed, primer pockets uniformed and are weight segregated into MTM boxes of 50 (a lot of which have only been fired once or twice) for the K-Hornet.
Oh and boo-coo Lil'Gun, WSR primers and 40 grain V-Max and BlitzKing projectiles.
We have Richardsons ground squirrels out here we call gophers. Unless you've shot em out here you'd think I was BS'n ya if I told ya how many a guy shoots on a good day. Hornets and K-Hornets are great rounds for the task (as are many others).
Bottom line? Why not? Big Grin

montdoug, Really nice looking, thanks for posting. I've just bought a "as new" Hornet F/S and am waiting for delivery. Is there a reason I'd want the "k" done? I really like the Hornet caliber and plinking/100yd targets is the intended use.

Hey Doug, Do you carry a lunch in that thing hanging below the magazine well? rotflmo
-----

Actually Wink, when you are carring the rifle in one hand, if you slip your thumb beneath the scope and across the Bolt, is that magazine short enough for your fingers to wrap around it? Or do you normally just remove the magazine?

What kind of groups is it shooting as is?

Carry? Like walk around? Eeker Are you kidding??
Actually I usually pull the magazine and put one of James Calhoon's single shot followers in it, (I'm a single shot guy). When walking around I wear a shirt with two pockets, loaded rounds in the right pocket, empties in the left.
If a guy really hates the magazine enough (don't bother me at all) you can have this done for $65.00

This is the guy that does it.

Roy Bertalotto

I haven't shot it yet so I can't tell ya how it shoots but my last CZ American Hornet that I bought to make a .17 Ackley Hornet shot this 5 shot group the first and only time it went to the range as a .22 Hornet. This is obviously the best group it shot but all were real decent 1/2 inch or less using a 20X scope with wind flags etc. The bullet in this load is seated out for accuracy and won't fit the in the magazine.

Mike there's really no reason to K it for what you described. The points guys mention "for" it are better case life, a little better velocity. My last K ran 3,250ish fps with a 40 grain BlitzKing and my current .22 Hornet rifle gets 3,000ish fps with the same bullet or the 40 V-Max which it prefers.
Down side: Probably won't feed well out of the magazine, expense of the work, ya sure don't need to do it for 100 yards. I'd just shoot it and have fun and if you decide to K it later you always can.

I can see where the Single Shot option would not be a hinderance for my roaming around either.

That sure is a fine group for a 22Hornet. I'd have a hard time changing it into anything else.

PS Is the 5th shot under the dime? clap I never had any 22Hornet shoot that well in 35 years of wrestling with them.

Good Hunting and clean 1-shot Kills.

I shot the new CZ Hornet today for the first time other than break in. Once again I just grabbed a box of 50 that were originally loaded for the Anschutz. That load is WW cases, 13.2 grains of Lil'Gun, a WSR primer and a 40 grain V-Max seated out way to far to fit the magazine. That last group was shot with a 6X20X40 Weaver Grand Slam scope on a 65 degree day. Todays shooting was done with a 4.5X14X40 Leupold VariXIII with the Varminter reticle and it was 37 degrees with an 11mph breeze dropping the wind chill right smartly. The scope will be a great varmint scope but isn't near the glass for shooting small groups on paper, fortunately the wind was from the SW which at our range put it right at my back with just a slight bit of left quartering involved.
Cut to the chase. 3 shots got me about 3/4 inch low and centered at 25 yards and 3 more put me dead center with the center cross hair at 100. Using the first subtended cross hair as the aiming point I then fired four 3 shot groups at 100 yards. They measured out-side center to center a .583 a .648 a .720 and a .599 for a four three shot group agg of .6375.
After that as I was getting chilly as well as hungry I only shot one 5 shot group and that measured a .651.
That's not as good as the group I posted the picture of but the conditions were worse what with heavy coats and all and besides I didn't have to hide any errant holes with pocket change Wink.
At any rate Mike had asked how it shot which all considered I felt was outstanding for a brand new rifle. All told 17 rounds into a total group agg of .6402 using a non target scope and out of a rifle that with the wood upgrade was only slightly over $600.00. Those CZ's flat amaze me.
Friday this critter is going to the gun Doc along with a buddies snug necked short throated .22 K-Hornet reamer to pick up a couple hundred feet per second hopefully and put some shoulders on it.
Probably makes no sense at all but it oughta keep me off the streets for a while messing with it.
There ya go, everything ya never wanted to know about my CZ Hornets first trip to the range.

Personally I think it would be a character defect if you weren't that excited Big Grin.
If a new rifle don't get a guy jacked he needs a new hobby.
Hopefully you'll post some pictures, that FS has always had my eye, nice looking rifle.
