So far I have only tried shooting 140gr Barnes Match burner bullets with somewhat unsatisfactory results with my Howa. I have loaded so far with RE-22 and IMR-4831 with the same bullet. I have since loaded some 120gr Pro hunters and 120gr Ballistic tips to see if they will perform any better. I also tried loading up more of the 140gr match with Varget to see if that will work.
Now I just need to get time to go to the range and test them out.

Reason Im asking is I finally decided to build a 6.5 and find the HOWA action looks good to me. I think the twist is for 140gr bullets and I want to put a barrel with original mil. spec twist so I can shoot looong bullets. Does HOWA sell actions only or will I have to buy a barreled action? Been pondering a custom build for some time now and decided on the HOWA.

It looks like on their website they only sell barreled actions. Not sure what the options in your area are.

Palladin8 thanks. Done some research and so far you are correct only barrelled actions which many seem to say are a bitch to remove. The barrels are very tightly screwed into the action.

Well, here's a recal on for stainless Howas in Aus, due to the barrel nut not being tightened (they say) - should make them easy to remove ..... sofa

Yes, I know of the deterioration - one of the reasons I jumped when a job was offered. Seemed strange that I'd spent so much time playing silly arses in the Army and then just go, but I didn't see any chance with the then government, and it's got worse.

We're not Kiwis, mate.

There the sheep are nervous ....
