Well I have been gone from here for a quite awhile. No excuses ... just been gone. Good to have a great report to come back on, Wanting a 22 mag like load for the single shot 223, I took some 50 grain Hornaday red tips and set about doing this very thing. Load is thus; ... Neck sized only my misc. Brass. ... primed with CCI small rifle primers. ... loaded 4.1 grains of Trailboss. ... seated the red tipped hornaday's to be just around .020 off the rifling. These little buggers shot exceedingly well. First two into 3/8ths ... third I muffed off to the right by about 3/8ths but the last two went back into the first two's hole. Gentle shooting, quiet and very fun. Should be a GREAT small game load. Next time out I will chrony them for speed. Thats my tale. ---------------------------------- when all is said and done...more will be said then done

I've had excellent success with Blue Dot to produce light loads in centerfire .22's. However, my Blue Dot loads are probably somewhat faster than your Trailboss loads, so I wouldn't be surprised if Trailboss isn't a better powder for such very light loads. Be sure to report on velocities when you get around to chronographing.

Will do. Next time out I have this and another load to chronny. This really impressed me. Exactly what I had in mind. How fast is your lite load? ---------------------------------- when all is said and done...more will be said then done

So looked up the 55 grain bullet with 4 grain TB and in a 24 inch barrel they say 1050 fps. No pressure readings but bettin they are low low. So this winds up being 22 LR velocity with 55 grain bullet. Way fun ... WAY WAY fun ---------------------------------- when all is said and done...more will be said then done
