After many years of thinking about it,I finally found a 25-06 at the right time at the right price. It will be used for mostly coyotes & antelope. Maybe a mule deer, and smaller varmits of opportunity. I would like to use one load for everything, and call it good. I’m thinking a 100 gr Nosler BT should do everything I want, but I’m open to suggestions. Are there any opinions on the matter?
Thx

I’ve only taken Antelope mostly, plus Deer, with my 25-06. I use 115 gr. Winchester Ballistic Silvertip ammo and have never lost an animal. Great stuff. However, I have not hunted varmints with that load.

My favorite bullet for everything is the 115 gr. Nosler partition. I have taken a lot of antelope and mule deer with it. Two friends used it for cow elk and each made a one-shot kill, although there are better rifles for elk in my opinion. It also works well on coyotes but is rough on the hides. The 100 gr. partition has also worked well on antelope and coyotes but I have not tried it on deer. For some reason my rifle (a Rem. 700 Classic) did not like the 120 gr. partition but shoots great with the 115 gr. My favorite powder is IMR-7828 with the 115 gr. bullet and H-4831 with the 100 gr.

100gr ballistic tip and IMR 4350 9 1/2 Remington primers 3350f/s this is my deer load.
My youngest son has taken many a whitetail.
I have been testing H100V 117gr Sierra Spitzer flat base, WLR primers. it settled in at 3100 f/s
AA2700 and Imr 4831 120 gr Sierra HPBT 2900f/s 8 1/2 -120 win. primers is another excellent load.
Model 70 win. And a Parker Hale Mod. 1200 both shoot these loads to moa or better.
Your Remington may like them as well

I realize this is a low cost suggestion and that regular bullets never work on anything anymore.
but here goes.
the Speer 100gr boat tail controlled expansion bullet [like 19.95 a hundred around here] on top of some IMR-4831 or RL-19.
run it about 3,000 fps.

My 25-06 enjoys a diet of 90 gr. GMX's or 100 gr. Barnes TTSX's with H-4831.

Have fun with it.

Although I don't have a lot of 25/06 experience I have been shooting several .257 Roberts for years. Mine really like the 117 Sierra's (and 110 Accubonds not yet tried on game).
The 117 Sierra's have worked without question on many Deer, some large mature Mule Deer.
We had one .257 that preferred 100 grain bullets so that one we ran 100 grain Sierra's as well.
You may find your rifle likes 100 grain bullets however you may find that it approves of heavier bullets instead like 110, 117, 120's.
Personally I can't get the Partitions to shoot to acceptable accuracy in anything we tried them.
If your rifle likes the Ballistic Tips they may do everything you need.
Good luck with your project.

I have been a fan of the 25's for many years.
my first one was bob. rem 700 87gr bullets in a 1:10 was about all I could get it to shoot, it had a long throat. I had a custom built on a Mauser and a Douglas barrel and it shot everything, Should have kept it.

I have become a Nosler Accubond fan, I think I like it better than the partition I used for many years, unless I need absolute penetration then the partition will win IMO...but for soft skin game penetration with the Accubond has more more than ample.

That said, for coyotes and deer and antelope, a 120 gr. Sierra BT is just as good, and a good quick killing bullet, as are the softer balistic tips and Hornadys...They all work on light bodied animals such as antelope, coyotes and Mule deer. Balistic tips Ive used killed great but too much blood shot meat to suit me, and hell on coyotes.

I've only used the 115gr Ballistic Tip in my 25-284, but it has worked exceptionally well on the couple whitetail's I've shot with it. It's also very accurate.

Shoot straight, shoot often.

I shot a 25-06 for over a couple decades and used the 100 grain partition. None of the critters ever complained BUT nowadays I'd probably go with the Accubond because they perform so well in a variety of my rifles and I like the BC. No flies on the Ballistic Tip either for deer sized critters.

There's my 2 cents albeit outdated on the 25-06.

The Accubond is basically a "bonded core" Balistic tip, and that makes all the difference in the world in a game bullet..You get that ballistic accuracy and the benefit of a Nosler partitions expansion and penetration in one bullet..They are about perfect for an all around bullet on anything the caliber itself is capable of..I used them on a lot of game, mostly in the 30-06, 7x57 and to a lesser extent in the 25 calibers like the 250 Savage and 25-06..The results are always the same it seems to me..
