I don't know anything about the new Savage Rifles. Do they make a bolt action 223, with an 16 to 20 inch sporter barrel, fixed magazine, and Accutrigger? I appreciate the help, as I may like to try one if I can find one close to this platform.
Look up the Savage Hog Hunter may not be exactly what you are looking for but it has a 20" barrel, internal mag, accutrigger. The Hog Hunter is the only rifle I know of with a shorter than 22" barrel. If you want any shorter a trip to a GS will take care of any of them.
My accutrigger has a tendency to stick. The little mettle thing gets locked and I have to reset it by unlocking the bolt. Mine is more for shooting paper than hunting or I would have sent it back. Not sure if others had issues with the accutrigger.

I decided to give a savage a try, so I recently bought one with the Accutrigger and Accustock.
The thing is deadly accurate, but the trigger does not function consistently. Some on AR and various other forums have recommended replacing it with a Rifle Basix trigger. I may end up doing that. However, I do like the Accustock.
I called Savage and they told me that they would give me a call tag so I could send it in. I really don't want to send it in, so I will see if the problem continues and when I get frustrated enough, I will get a new trigger.
I sent my 12bvss-s in for trigger repair and after 6 months it started to stick again . I sent away for the Sharp Shooter Supply's competition trigger and promised Alberta Canuck the POS Accutrigger. Before it arrived I did a little work on the trigger and maticulously cleaned it. At least for now it seems to work. If it goes south again I'll replace it and AC gets the POS. roger

I dislike the Accutrigger for several reasons and much prefer the older two or three screw triggers. The Accutrigger will function just fine if you take that stupid little lever out of the trigger shoe but you'll have to live with the slot in the shoe. I cannot however recommend that anybody remove a factory installed safety device from their rifles. Do so at your own discretion.

If I'm buying something that I have to rebuild, rework, or modify from the start, I seek another brand. Take a look at CZ's. The backwards safety is a feature about them I don't like, otherwise they seem very good.

Thanks for the replies guys. The CZ 527 is a fine little rifle, but it does have a detachable magazine, which I do not want. Too much hassel to load in poor light or in the truck.
