Why did Remington drop this load? I found it to be death on deer and sheep so what gives?

Found 5 boxes at a store the other day and bought them all.

My guess is Winchester and Nosler doing the Combined Technology thing pissed off Remington. Oh well just reload. A stiff load of R19 and that 125 Nosler arn't hard to get to shoot straight.

When I read this sort of stuff, and then get a real world picture of what a box of ammo now runs, I am so glad I handload.

I don't have to worry about what the bean counters over at Rem or Winchester are thinking of screwing with to save a buck, or what their Marketing Whiz Kids are trying to crystal ball on what will sell this year.

A 260 with a 125 grain partition, how much more ballanced combo exists in this caliber???

Last time I looked, Rem had brought out the 8 mm Mauser in their classic rifle of the year and quit making their 8 mm bullets in componets at the same time. Unless they are smarter than I am and I missed something, it is a clear case, the right hand is clueless on what the left hand is doing.

NOW if Nosler quit making the 125 grain Partition, then that is something to worry about. Until then, YAWWWN

Cheers and Good shooting

Seafire,
When I saw the title of this thread I just thought, "yeah, there is a marriage made in heaven". Then I started daydreaming about other good combinations. 6,5x55 SE and 140 grain Partitions, 6.5 x 284 and 142 grain Sierra Match Kings, 6 BR and 107 grain VLD of the day, .308 Win and a 168 grain HPBT, 7mm-08 and 140 grain Partition, .280 AI and a 160 grain Partition, 7 Rem Mag and 175 grain, with a .270 the rifle will tell you if she wants 130's or 150's.
When I find a good lot of brass I buy at least 500. Shooter's Pro Shop in Bend gets my quarterly check for ten bags of blemed Partitions, and you are never wrong to buy Varget and H4831SC in two packs of 8# kegs.
I find a "pretty good load" for each rifle and then that is all I Load for it. I try to have similar trajectories out to 300 meters if possible. When ever I pick up any particular rifle/load/scope combination I know what I'm holding. At one time you could do that with commercial ammunition, but they keep dropping loads to make room for the next flavor of the month.
Sorry, I went over my time limit.

How much Rx 19? Have you tried Rx 22 or IMR7828 with good results? < !--color-->

I use R22 in my 300 win for 180 grainers and up, but R19 in a bunch of rounds from 243 up to 300 win. It just seems more consistant in alot more rounds and really they are so close anyways. I buy the 5# jugs of R19 and R15, but only the 1 #ers of the R22. To tell the truth when I run out of the Reloader series I'm going to start messing with Ramshot powders. They're temp sensitive, clean and a ball powder-the best of everything. Hopefully they'll shoot pretty well in a variety of rounds. I haven't messed with imr7828 but was wondering how it would work in the a 270 wtby. I'm not quoting powder but alot of people find a sweet spot between 46-48 grains of r19 for the 120 through 129 grain bullets in the 260 rem.
