| I have a Blaser R93 with 3 (magnum) barrels. I think I bought the set via GunBroker. Just keep your eyes open and bide your time. Get familiar with market prices and the sellers. Enroll in the Blaserpro.com website. Lots of good information there. Steer clear of MADDOG, there are better prices. Peter.

| The R8 in 6.5x55 is an oustanding combination, well mine is. A few weeks ago it produced one of the best groups I've ever shot with a sporting rifle. This was after watching clip by Aleco on u-tube in which it stated that there should be no oil on the underside of barrel or the block through which the barrel bolts are secured. It has always shot well but after a little cleanig the group closed up to one hole. The only gripe I have with the R8 is that they are heavier than the R93, that aside, they are in my view, a better rifle than the R93. |

| The non-magnum 6.5, 6.8/.270, and 7mm cartridges are IMO the best go-to calibers for deer and antilope species up to around 350 lbs.
If you do all your hunting within a couple of hours driving distance from home, flip a coin, the difference among them in hunting situation is too small to measure.
If you travel longer distances to hunt, and especially if you travel by air, get a .270 Win instead. It is the most popular and available by a country mile. Your chances of finding ammo when you need it, whether in Uvalde Texas or Jo'berg RSA is much better. |

| I have a lovely R93 in 6,5/30-06/9,3x62, with a quality scope on each barrel. Wouldn't trade it for a R8 in any ways..

| I have had an R8 in 6.5X55 for a little more than a year now. A while back I was shooting at a steel plate, at 500 yards, and the bullet splashes were overlapping. That was with 140 grain Sierras. I think you will be pleased if you decide to try one. |

| It has been raining, but let up a bit, so I slapped a 3X9 Zeiss on my R8, loaded up 47 grains of WXR, and some 140 grain Hornady BTHP bullets I had laying around. I thought what I got was pretty good considering the moist conditions. [IMG:left] [/IMG] |
