you can use any data for the .243 and 80 grain bullets out there. It don't have to be Nosler bullets to use the data....Use the data for Hornady, Speer and sierra the same as nosler!!!

I was just wondering if anybody else had any success with this bullet, and if so how or what ingredients did they use?

Nico, by working up the load you will have excellent results with the Varget and CCI primers. Just follow the usual methodologies and enjoy a fine cartridge.

Thats what I use for my coyote load and it works great. Instant kills and small exit wound *most* times.

I use 42.5 gr of Varget, Norma brass, Fed 210 primers and get 3300 fps with a 20" barrel grouping between 1/2" or 3/4"@ 100.

This is above posted max so work your way up.

Good luck.

I have used 40 grains of IMR 4895 and 4064 both, with excellent results... this is a very accurate bullet, and I prefer it a lot over their 70 grain BTip...

When downloaded to leave the muzzle at under 2700 fps, it also makes a very good deer bullet for younger shooters.....

on the fast end, 46 to 47 grains of H 414, also make a real screamer out of it, on the chronograph.... deadly accurate and very explosive in a 243 or 6mm Rem...

how about a bigger bullet and less Varget? My favorite load is a 95-grain Ballistic Tip with 33.5 grains of Varget.

I got groups of less than a half inch with it and i am thrilled.

I have a .243 Ackley and have recently been developing a load for it with the 80 gn ballistic tip . Have tried H4350 and WXR powders . WXR is the same as RL 22 and has proven to be the more accurate of the 2 powders with this projectile and gives excellent velocity .
I personally think Varget is faster burning than optimum for this weight of projectile and haven't tried it although I have some on my bench .
I shot 4 x 3 shot groups at 1/2 grain increments . Largest group was 0.5 inches , smallest 0.3 inches . All 12 shots would have gone into 0.6 if fired at the same target . I started at 50 grains which gave me 3371 FPS but is listed as maximum for the standard .243 . Suggest you start a couple of grains lower .

Varget has been my most accurate and gives me optimum velocity with bullets in the 70 gr. to 85 gr. range in both of my 243's. Maybe you should explore it if you ever have the desire to play around with some new loads. Wink

Boilerroom ,
Have tried Varget with the 80gn Berger match but accuracy / velocity combination was not as good as H4350 in my rifle . Interesting that similar loads of H4350 didn't work as well as WXR with the Nosler 80gn . Velocity was similar but accuracy not as good .
If WXR gives better accuracy than H4350 with the Berger (haven't tried it yet) it will be awesome . H4350 shoots 5 in the low 3's .
I always try to achieve optimum load density and so use a powder that goes as close as possible to filling the case to the bottom of the projectile . Varget is too fast burning to do this with the 80gn in a .243 . Being faster burning I would think it is probably harder on the barrel in terms of erosion too .
I found Varget quite good with lighter projectiles and use it with the 55gn Nosler in the .243 AI

W760 or H414 would be my choice followed by RL19 and IMR4895. In this bullet weight.
