Who is getting 2950 to 3000 fps out of their 24" barrel and what powder are you using? Thanks.

Can't speak to the Amax but from other heavier 243 bullet experience I would look to MRP, 7828, RL22

As usual just my $.02

I own 5 243's right now and have a sentimental attachment to the round. However, if I wanted to launch 105's, I would take a reamer to it. This is where there really is a difference between the 243 and the larger 6x284, 240, 6/06 etc. Course this isn't possible with an AR-10 platform, if that is what you have, otherwise, I would go to something larger. I think the 243 really shines with 80-85 gr bullets, where it gives up little to the larger cases.

Barstooler...

I built a 6mm Rem on a Model 700 Long Action...

that allows the bullet to not take any, if at all, room in the boiler room...

I didn't see the need to, but an acquaintence took his and made it into an AI version, with a 1 in 14 twist...

he shoots 75 grains and under in bullet weights at insane speeds.....

My 6mm Rem has a one in 7 twist, with a 24 inch Pac Nor Stainless barrel on it, in a heavy magnum contour...

in a short action a friend shot 115 grain Bergers at 2700 fps with one... as the long bullet infringed on the powder room's capacity..

or the long action, using the same powder ( RL 19) and the same bullet, my MV is 3250 fps..

just food for thought... easier to buy 6mm Rem brass and dies, vs the 6mm/06 route..

I've ran 55 grain Ballistic tips out of the 6mm Long Action at 4300 fps...with a 1 in 7 twist, it amazes me that the bullet was tough enough to withstand the RPMs generated by that fast of twist, and that MV...
