| You would be really hard pressed to prove the difference in true terminal performance in the field. I would go with the Roberts as I like the select classic better.

| My wife just bought a montana 257, Been trying different loads and it shows a lot of promise. It was a cold, windy winter so it took a while to break the barrel in. I'm trying to get time to try more loads.I've had a 257 roberts for almost 25 years,in a ruger ultralight. I love it and all 3 kids learned to hunt with it. |

| I would want something heavier than 6mm for things that bite and scratch. Actually, 6mm is marginal in my estimation for game hunting. Others may not concur.

| I have a select french walnut .308. excelent rifle. I also have 2 .257 Roberts. The .243 is a good round but i prefer the Roberts. the Roberts can easily push 100 grain bullets up into the 3100 or 3200 FPS range , from a 22 inch barrel, and the .243 tops out at around 3,000 ...tj3006

| Win 69 I have 300WSM,270Win, 308, am covered regards heavier rifles. The .243 is attractive due to its a better fit of the magazine designed for the 308 case than the Roberts but folks are getting the kimber roberts to shoot so this is a moot point. A 100grain bullet will kill all I will be shooting it at. |

| How about a picture Jimmy? I have been looking for a Kimber in Select french walnut for a couple of years now (in 257R). The first one I saw had beautiful wood, but then all the others that I saw had wood that was fairly plain ie. nice, but nothing to write home about. Where did you get yours? Peter.
