Has anyone tried Lil Gun in the .25-20? I was thinking of the Hornady 60 grain FP. Does anyone know where I could get a starting load? Thanks. [ 06-15-2003, 11:22: Message edited by: Mike in Reedley ]

I have used the 60 gr. Hornady flat point and Lil' Gun. My rifle is a #3 Ruger and my loads far exceed SAMMI pressures and as such, I don't want to list them here. H-110 yields the highest velocity in my rifle, but Lil' Gun is a close second. You could safely start your load development at 9.0 grs. in a rifle in good condition though, this is where I started. What kind of .25-20 rifle do you have? I found and recived 200 of the long discontinued .257 60 grain Hornady Spire Points on Ebay the other day, I can't wait to try them out. Should be a much better long range bullet than the flat points. I can eamil you the loads I tried if you want. daddy_jeffs@hotmail.com

quote:Envy, envy, envy!!!!! I still have a hundred or so of the 60 grain spire points left. I loaded them over WW-680 and I'm out of that, too. My rifle is one of the old Savage 23 bolts so I stay within book max. Makes a nice walking around groundhog gun to about 150 yards. Mostly I shoot it with 65 grain cast GCs at about 1500 fps. That's my idea of a perfect small game load.
