| A short action 700 in a caliber with the 308 bolt face would be a better choice. I believe that the 6.5x47 Lapua has the bigger case head. I would doouble check that before I got started on this project. |

| As hvy barrel sez the very interesting 6.5x47 Lapua uses the .473 (7.92x57) case head. The larger cartridge will fit the action but the boltface will need some work. There is an older wildcat 6x47 based on the 222 Magnum case. That would work on your 223 without changes to the boltface. So would most other cats based on the .378 case head (222 Remington). |

| .473 bolthead is the same as a 308, a 243, and I think a 22-250? Correct or are there a few more? |

| A 223
Just fireforming 223 brass to remove what little taper there is in the case and giving it a 40 degree shoulder. |

| How about a straight 6X47 built on a 222 remmag case?
