Just left a gunshop that is on fire for Cooper rifles. Checked out a bench rest rifle, in .223Rem. WOW...What a beauty!! Any proud owner or admirer care to educate me?? Had a paper that hung next to the rifle showing a 3 shot group @ 50 yds..sakofan..VERY nice rifle, indeed!! [ 08-26-2003, 01:12: Message edited by: sakofan ]

I have 2 Coopers, a K Hornet in the Montana Varminter and a .17 Mach IV in a straight Varminter. Cooper is a small Montana rifle company that specializes in very accurate rifles, mostly single shots, and they aren't afraid to build some in very exotic calibers. Try .17 Ackley Hornet or .17 Mach IV or how about a Tactical .20? They are a great bunch of guys, and they back up their product. My K shot in the .2's and .3's right out of the box, the Mach IV didn't at first but it sure does now, ( see my post further down in "small calibers" under " It finally Shoots! " )I can't say enough about Rob there at Cooper. Rob told me when I first had problems in the new rifle they'd fix it, Sunday I shot 5 Berger 25 grainers into a .168 group at 3,880 fps. That my friend equates to a first class rat spreader!!!! I love my Coopers.---Shoot Safe---montdoug

My Mod 21 Varminter in 223 Rem will let me group five 53gr Matchkings into 0.35" (100yds). Only problem is now all the excuses are gone when you miss! My Varminter 21 in 17Mach IV is scheduled for production this week; hope it gets to the dealer ASAP!

I was told by my gundealer, that Cooper was once affiliated with Kimber, before they moved out East...sakofan.

I picked up a used Cooper Model 21 in 222 Rem Mag back in the winter. It's a beautiful rifle and as accurate as a lot of low end benchrest guns. I took it west to shoot pd's a couple of months ago and although I cleaned it several times there and again when I got home, I ran some Wipeout through it last week. Turned out it had some copper from about 250 shots. After cleaning I took it down to my backyard 100 yard range. The first five shots went into a group that I could cover with my smallest finger nail. The only problem with a Cooper is that you want more. Rick

Sakofan, the original Kimber of Oregon which made great stuff was sold or partnered off and quality fell, and they moved to New York. Dan Cooper was one off their guys, and he and some others split off and came to Montana and started Cooper Arms. Thats the story as I've heard it and true or not at least their here right down the road. Mulerider, your gonna love that .17!!! ---Shoot Safe---montdoug [ 08-27-2003, 00:31: Message edited by: montdoug ]

Sakofan, I've got a Cooper LVT in 22lr with some sort of a 4-16x scope on it, the last time I went shooting, shot a .399" five shot group @100yds. with SK Standard Plus ammo, I really like the thing, nice trigger, workmanship is outstanding etc. etc. it would be worth your while to pick one up, put a "good" scope on it, and go to town, praire dog town that is.
