Looking for an upper in 204 R. and would like to end up with one that has a good rep. both the uppers and the company. Looking for one in a 20" barrel flattop to sit on my RRA's lower. Thanks

Bearcat, I bought a AR upper in .204 from WhiteOak armament http://www.whiteoakarmament.com and have been extremely impressed with their work. I put the upper on a RRA national match lower and the gun shot in the low .4's" (5-shots) first group out of the gun! Since then I have hit prairie dogs bowling pins out past 400 yards with this rig. I purchased a 24" barrel and I suspect that you could order a 20" but most would try to talk you into a longer barrel to keep the velocities up. I found the WhiteOak prices to be more reasonable than the others out there offering AR uppers in .204 Ruger. They stand by their products delivered on time and I couldn't be more impressed with the quality and the service. induna jr.

Model 1 sales is supposedly offering a 204 upper also, it just not in their catalog yet. But I don't suspect that it is near the quality of Noveske or White Oak Armament. I'd also go with the 24" barrel. In the 204 velocity is king and the 24" gives you more of that. Thanks for the info guys, I ended up going with an Accuracy Systems upper in 22". I found a 204 velocity chart with barrel lenghs, it seems that 23" gives the fastest FPS with 22" only 20 FPS slower. I ordered it 10 weeks ago and its supose to be here next week. I'll post a report thanks again!

But the Model 1 Uppers have the 1-10 twist which is much better for the 40 grain bullets & the 40's are much better in the wind, shoot flatter after 400 yards & will have more energy for the big Varmits.
