Have a 28" Hart 1/7 twist on a 700 action would like to try some 90gr Bergers & Sierra's anyone try these bullets in 223, suggestions of powders to try. manitou
Some match shooters have had pretty good luck with VV N550. But generally speaking most have gone back to the 80 grain bullets from Sierra or Berger for 1,000 yard work. Why, with any length and twist of barrel, do you want to shoot this heavy of bullet with this caiber?

Hipower competitive shooters (usually at 600 and beyond) use 80-90 grain bullets. Many try the 90s and go back to 80s-not necessarily due to accuracy reasons, but often due to velocity issues.
A 1/7 or 1/6.5 twist barrel will usually stabilze the heavies well. Chamber is a major variable- a standard 556 or 223 chamber will likley not work well. Long range 22 folks push the throat out another 100 thou or even farther to gain as much case capacity as possible-of course, these chambers are for longer than AR mag length loads, and normal 69-77 grain mag length loads often do not shoot well from such a long-throated chamber....
223/556 is now an authorized Palma chambering-so a good bolt gun chambered specifically for a long seated 90 may be good medicine-if you can keep the steam up to stay super sonic ut to 8, 9 and 1000 yards.
