I love the information I get here but I dont think a 264 is small caliber. I come here to get my .22 and sub fix. Just my 2 cents.

To me "micro caliber" is sub-.22 caliber. .14's to .20's qualify. .22 to .257 is small and then, mid, large, SCARY shocker etc. etc.
My personal madness hangs out from .17 to .20, got 15 of em at current count Big Grin. Anything worth doing is worth over-doing.
I guess where they fit is like beauty, it's in the eye of the beholder. Wink
I do like the idea of a .22 and below forum, sounds interesting.

Should the 22Hornet fall into the 'micro-calibre' section?

I would support creation of a 5 m/m (.20 cal) and below page.

I would much prefer the .22 CFs stay in the current smallbore section because of all the cartridges like the R2 Lovell, .222, .223, .219 Don Wasp, .22-250, .220 Swift, .224 Wby, etc., ad nauseum.

They are hardly "Micro" cartridges, despite their bore diameters.

I have always thought that "sub-caliber" meant below 22 caliber.

And, "micro-caliber" meant below 17 caliber.

But......whatever works.

I sucumbed to the sub-caliber lure just in the last 2 years but the 17MKiv interseted me in the 70's EXCEPT for the 17 cal bullet.
When the 204 Ruger surfaced I thought how much better it would be on the Fireball case so googled 20/221 and the adventure started. I bought a Rem Rangemaster XR100 in 204 and had the chamber shortened 16.35mm and re-chambered to 20 VarTarg. I have a rifle that shoots in the 2's and have a .084 (only 3 shot) on the wall from load developement days. A brilliant wee cartridge which makes head shooting rabbits at 200+ yds possible , and seeing the result in the scope. I did make a walkabout stock though as the rangemaster stock is a pig to carry. It should get a workout later this week. A 35gn Berger at 3730fps over 19.2 gn ADI 2207 ( H4198) is a dandy load.

I like the idea. Maybe call it something like "20's and Below" or "204 and Less".

Talk about efficient. Tried some 18 gr berger MEF's this last weekend in a cooper varminter chambered 17 mach 4, 18.9 gr of Reloader 10X yielded 4250 fps.

left to right
7mag, 140 gr accubond, * 17 ackley hornet, 18 gr berger * 17 hebee, 23 gr. woodchuck den * 17 rem fireball, 20 gr. hornady v-max * 17 mach IV, 25 gr hornady hp * 17 rem, 30 gr woodchuck den gold * 20 tactical, 40 gr. v-max * 22 hornet, 35 gr. v-max *

Good stuff Geedubya thumb

.17 Killer Bee with 25 grain V-Max, .20 Killer Bee with a 32 grain V-Max, .17 MachIV with a 25 grain V-Max, .20 VarTarg with a 32 grain V-Max.

This one's all .20's.
.20 VarTarg with a 32 grain V-Max, .20 Killer Bee with 32 grain V-Max, .20 Tactical with a 40 grain V-Max, .20 BR with a 40 grain V-Max, .20 Dasher with a 40 grain V-Max.

Yeah, it's pretty safe to say I'd enjoy a .22 and under forum Big Grin.
I'd add the .22's as well cause I'd like to see the Hornets, K-Hornets, .221 Fire Ball's .218 Bee's etc included.
