I used the Hornady factory loads at 3100fps. Most accurate factory Hornets I found. I never did shoot anything furry with them. The gun left and came home one day with a 17 AH barrel on it.

B>A> Wally: Hey Mate! Yeah I have used the 35 grain V Max in a 223 at various velocities. On game performance was unimpressive. Moving up to just a 40 grain is night and day. Even at velocities of 4500 to 4700 fps in a 22/250, they still loose velocity or trajectory fast. 300 yds is about it. A 40 or 45 grain projectile runs circles so bad around them, it will floor you to think what an extra 5 grains or even 10 grains can mean in bullet performance and trajectory. I tried them in a 222, 223, and 22/250. Gave the other half of the box away to the Cub Scout troop to use as weight on their Pine Wood Derby cars. About all they are good for. Cheers and Good shooting seafire
