I am really close to using this bullet at a muzzle velocity of 3250 from my 257 AI this Fall for a Texas deer hunt, does anyone have any terminal coments which would apply to this particular projectile? Thanks in advance.

308Sako,
I've never used anything(for the most part) except 100gr. Sierra spitzers in my .257 ACKLEY and they get the job done. Leave the so called premium bullets on the shelf and spend the difference on something else, they ain't necessary! At least on deer.

For Texas deer: 100gr Hornady, every one expanded and shot through (even at 25-06 velocity). Same advise as Stepchild 2.

Loaded some up for my son about 5 years ago ( he was 10) for a pig hunt. He drilled his first "big game" animal, a 175lb porker right through the shoulder and dropped him like a sack O' potatoes. Good groups too. Having said all that, I preferred the Hornady Interlock. We've had great success with it, even out of my 257 Weatherby. jorge

My 25-06 Improved works great with Nosler Partitions at 3500+. At 3200 you can use regular bullets. The Barnes's just shed the petels under the hide and exit without expanding and the Nosler B-tips explode on the hide at close ranges of <200. I have never tried the Swifts as the Noslers work so well. This is my all time favorite caliber so far. I use it on everything up to deer size. For a real hoot, try some 75 grain VMaxes with IMR4350. 3900 fps easy and small game just disappears in a pink cloud.

I'm in exactly the same boat. For reasons mysterious to me, that bullet shoots better in my .257AI than any other game bullet (and I've tried 8 or 10 others). So evidently I'm wedded to it. My rifle likes the light bullets, but finding a really accurate bullet for deer has proven to be a challenge.

I don't know what you're driving it with--I'm using IMR4350 and BR2 primers. Let's compare notes after the season.

Fireform, Im using IMR 4350 also and Fed 210M's. It's the accuracy I find so appealing, not to mention just trying something different. Good hunting.

I used it and 100grs Nosler PT in 25-06. With Rel 25 i reached almost 3400 f/s but never got better 3 shot groups than 15mm, Or little over 1/2 moa.

Not what I expected from the gun, with other barrels it does 5 shoot groups better than 10mm. Almost 1/3 moa.

If you are wondering what kind of gun. Sauer 202, shilen select match barrel.

Same gun in 6,5 Swedish or 30-06 Ackley shoots much better groups.

I have done several 3 shot groups at 300m with the 30-06 AI better than 1,5" With Swift Scirocco's and Hornady Interbonds. Hard to find a better deer load than that for extended range.
