| I'll be working up a load for the 55 gr TTSX in my buddy's 22-250. In Oklahoma, we're limited to 55 gr bullets for use on deer and antelope.

| 700 Nitro, Here are the regulations from Oklahoma regarding minimum bullet weight: quote:
Legal Means of Taking
•Rifles: Centerfire rifles firing at least a 55-grain weight soft-nosed or hollow-point bullet and having an overall cartridge case length of 1 1/4 inches or longer (9mm rifles are not legal). Clips or magazines of all .22 caliber centerfire firearms may not be capable of holding more than seven rounds of ammunition.
And here are the regulations regarding Colorado and minimum bullet diameter and size: quote:
LEGAL HUNTING METHODS
1. CENTERFIRE RIFLES
a. Must be minimum of .24 caliber (6 mm).
b. Must have a minimum 16-inch barrel and be at least 26 inches long.
c. If semiautomatic, they can hold a maximum of six rounds in the magazine and chamber combined.
d. Must use expanding bullets that weigh minimum 70 grains for deer, pronghorn and bear, 85 grains for elk and moose,and have an impact energy (at 100 yards) of 1,000-ft. pounds as rated by manufacturer.
e. It is illegal to hunt game birds, small-game mammals or furbearers with a centerfire rifle larger than .23 caliber during regular rifle deer and elk seasons west of I-25, without an unfilled deer or elk license for the season. A small-game,furbearer or unfilled big-game license is required.

| The Barnes non tipped 53 grain TSX would not stabilize in my 1in12 Ruger. Would think the 50 grain version tipped version is going to be about the same length so I would not be too optimistic that they are going to work in a 1in12. |

| I shoot the 53gr TSX behind RL-15 out if my cheap stevens model 200. It will shoot a quater inch group if I can do my part. It has a 1 in 12 twist. I tired the 60 gr partition and couldn't get then to shoot. |

The way the law reads, yes, you are correct. The nice thing though is now we have the 55 grain TTSX available, which is legal.

| just a side note and not to high jack the thread but im actully suprized at the all out killing eff of varming bullets on larg game mind you most shots taken are head shots
i droped a 34 year old horse today had to put it down. shot it with a 17 hmr and a 20 grain xtp i took a side brain shot at 48 yards the hole top brain cavatie exploded just like shooting a 2L pop bottle full of water it was alot.......alot messeyer than i was expecting death was obv instant mind you i always take head neck shots on game under 125 yards if the target is clear.... |
