I picked up my 25,06 from my smith a couple days ago , and i am goona try a few loads today.
I loaded 10 rounds each with the 110 grain accubond,115 grain balistic tip 115 grain tripple shock and 100 grain tripple shock.
I figure I will do 3 shots per load for group, 1 for chroney and then sinche i loaded all loads 1 turn of the die stem off the lands , i can take the ones that shoot pooly home and seat a little deeper. All loads are with RL-22. Rifle is an interarms MK-10 action 26 inch Douglas barrel And Timney trigger glass bedded and free floated in a Boyds thumbhole laminated sporter. With a leupold Vari X 3 4.5X14 Weaver basses and Burris Z rings...tj3006

The .25-06 takes a back seat to absolutely no cartridge for pronghorns and deer and deer size targets. There are some that will extend that claim to elk as well.

It's one of the truly great cartridges we have today.

Please let me know what you come up with for a load!!!
Just started fire-forming some preped brass for my Tikka T3 hunter in 25-06. Threw, and I mean threw, some loads together for it to fire-form: some REALLY old Speer 100grn HP that had dust on the box in the store. About 50grns of RL22 powder, just got close and threw the loads rather than weighing every one like I would normally do. (did weigh every 8th or 10th to make sure I was still well in the green and not going red).
Just for some tossed together rounds I was still well within an 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 out at 200yrds when I worked at it. (mostly just fire forming for it)
I have been told that this is an excellent cartriage with the ability of becoming very accurate and killer on deer and 'lopes.
Great luck to you!!!!

I will let you know what I come up with for a load, going to try the 110 Nosler AB also.

TJ, You now own a rifle chamberered in GOD'S gift to rifledom!!!
Forget all the expensive bullets and get yourself some 117 grain SIERRA Spitzer BT and some 120 grain HORNADY Spire Point HP!! Load the ahead of 49.0 grains of IMR 4350 and shoot little bitty groups but also DEVASTATE deer and antelopes(even Mule Deer!!) at extended ranges or short ranges, don't make no difference!!! those two bullets do the deal in the 25-06 and that powder does the deal in the 25-06!! If your 25-06 doesn't like that load.......it's an odd fellow!!! Maybe not the fastest load in town(yes I've got a faster one or two!!) but accurracy, and killing power, you just got the "Holy Grail" loading for a 25-06!!! GHD.....("pastor at the church of GHD....25-06"!!! )

beer I'll second that GHD!
We might have different powder and pill preferences, but I do like my quarterbore-06!
Will be shooting it again on Monday to verify the already verified and just cause I like shootin'.

Minor dissapointment !
My 1st trip to the range with my 25,06 was a minor dissapointment. But GHD will be glad to know that the one load that wa good was very good , and it was a sierra 1147 grain Flatt base. All the ecpensive bullets were poor. The 117 grain sierra gave me .47 3 shots at 100, while the other 4 loads were between 2, and 2.50 inches benchrested at 100.
Gonna set the 25,06 aside for a couple weeks and get ready for an ek hunt ! ...tj3006

My 25-06 absolutely loves 100 gr. Barnes TSX being pushed by 54 gr. of RL 19. I have tried almost every bullet out there and even though I would prefer something cheaper my girl just seems to really like her diamonds. Smiler

What kind of velocity are you getting? I get about 40 fps more than the published speed (with 24") in my Ruger with a 26" barrel. I just loaded some RL19 and TSX 100s. starting at 53 grains and ending at 57g in half grain increments. My worry is this Lee die doesn't crimp and they don't seem to be very tight. I got dissapointing speeds with the 168g TSX in my 30-06 but even with poweder weights of variences up to 4 grains I got sub 1" groups shooting only for velocity reading and pressure testing.

Old cane here is the load data I am using.

Bullet Barnes TSX
Bullet Weight 100 grs
Powder Alliant Reloader 19
Powder Weight 54 grs
Primer CCI BR2
Brass Make Winchester
Barrel Length 24 (inches)
C.O.L 3.01 (inches)
Velocity 3250 fps
Group 0.25 (inches by 3 shot at 100 yds)
Submitted By Dustin Zahradnik
Gun Info Savage 110 FP. Custom Barrel, Trigger and
Stock. Simmons 4X12X44 Scope
Comment Bullet seated @ .050 off the lands.

I have loaded up to 56 grs of RL 19 since Barnes says you should be able to go 1 to 2 grains over the MAX if you use the load data for the X Bullet which is 55 grs for RL 19. At 56 grs I started seeing pressure signs, so I backed it down a bit. I also changed the setting depth and found that .05 of the lands is the ticket. As for tightness I fire form and then neck size the brass with RCBS neck sizing die. When seating the bullets I don't crimp and don't have an issue with the rounds tightness.

Ok guys,
I started loading for next shoot with the 25/06. I did the 120 grain Hornady with 48.5 grains of IMR-4350, and am doing the 100 grain TSX with 53.5 grains of RL-19. Looking at several manuals, the go to powder for 25/06 seems to be IMR-4831 so I will have to pick up a can. Think I will take my 25,06 out to the woods this weekend while I practice a little with my 45/70 marlin, for elk hunting in 2 weeks.
then next weekend do the same with my 25/06 and my .338 win. I want to have 3 or 4 accurate loads with the 25. Hopefully one with 100 110 or 115 and a 120...tj3006

while you are working on load development don't overlook IMR4831. i have used RL19 and RL22 but my savage fp10 prefers 4831 and 100gr bullets.

Hi Fellas

GHD still going to get a load with that favourite of yours ie 117 Sierra etcetc, mate got me a deal on those accubonds in 110grn, almost as cheap so had to give them a go..

anyway I have 53.5grns of ADI 2213 SC (which i believe is same as 4831 sc)with winnie LRPimers, Federal cases and the above said accubonds, at present for just under and inch too 3/4 of an inch, and have had a couple of 400m groups at 5 inches , over chrony at 3007fps of course barrel is 22 and half so must be losing .? what do you reckon 45fps or so???

Well sharpie,
A 22 inch 25,06 would probably loose 50 to 100 FPS when compare to a 24, mine has a 26, I just loaded 5 of the accubonds with 53 grains of RL-19. The H-4831 SC would be high on my list of powders to try, will do so next weekend.
