Finally got the bug and purchased a 700 Remington Lite Varmit. I would like to shoot the 33 gr and 40 gr bullets. Any ideas for some good loads?? Thanx "Today is the 1st Day, of the Rest of Your Life"

Congratulations on your new toy! I also bought a VSLF in 221, which makes my 3rd Fireball (though I sold one, a 700 Classic 221 to a friend). For 40's, try LiLGun or AA1680 for max velocities (expect speeds >3500fps!), but H322, RL7, and AA2200 also are superb. Others also had good luck with 4198, even 4227, but I've never tried them. Plenty of data is around, but for the 30-35 gr pills, you'll have to do some extrapolating. VMax's, Varminators, Sierra 40hp...all have shot well in my rifles. Didja get one of those good deals posted over at GGVG?

Mule - I just bought some H322 powder for another project gun. I didn't ever remember seeing any good data for it on the .221. What data are you using ?

skb: I'll try and remember to look at my data tonight. I do recall it mirrors the RL7 data, but I will verify. I believe Ken Water's also used H322 in his article on the Fireball.

SKB: load data for H322 from my records: All primers were Rem 7-1/2 And it is obviously slower than RL7 when used in a 221 Rem. 20.6 gr behind a 50 Speer yielded 3040fps 20.6 gr behind a 50 Rem HP yielded 3050fps (and very accurate) 19.7 gr behind a Horn 55 yielded 2755fps and though it shot well, behind a 40NosBT a load of 20.6 gr (full case), the speed was only 3230fps. I say "only", as I am now used to great accuracy above 3400fps using RL7, LilGun, or 1680. After 10+ yrs of Fireball shooting, I hardly ever feed it anything but the 40gr pills, saving the "heavy" stuff for the 222/223/22-250's/ quote:
