Does anyone have an idea what the top speed is for a VMAX bullet? Specifically the 33 grn .20 cal. Also I would like to know how fast people are pushing the 50 grn Hornady SPSX..

Thanks...

Unlike some of the "Hornet" bullets, I'm unaware of any speed limit for them. I'm sure there is one but I've read of 4500 fps + for the polymer tipped bullets and others. Think that twist rate certainly affects this but you'll probably run out of pressure limits before the bullets come undone.

.224 50 grain SPSX goes 3850 in my 22-250 with 100 percent reliability. It IS the absolute splat master bullet.

Bullets fail on the way to the target by centrifical force, not purely velocity. So your question means little unless you specify the twist of the barrel.

For instance---- A factory 220 Swift (4110fps) from a 1-14 barrel is rotating at 211,320 RPM.

From a 1-12 barrel its turning 246,600 RPM.
