thinking of shortening the barrel on my steyr pro-hunter from 23.5 to 19.5 inches. anyone use a short .260 barrel and how is the accuracy. | ||

i have one with a 20" barrel - doesn't seem any different than my other one with a 24". it is much handier in the brush | |||

Not me, I want the extra FPS. On any given barrel you will loose 20-30 fps. But then, I am a western hunter and never liked short barrels. Socialism works great until you run out of the other person's money...... | |||

Gidday Alshooter. My 20" is great out to about 300 metres. I get about 2800fps out of it if I recall correctly with a 120 BT over 45gr of AR2209 (H4350) and everything hit with it has fallen over within 30 yards. This has been red deer, fallow and goats. Hope this helps Happy Hunting Hamish | |||

I have a 260 Imp. built on a Mod. sevev action with a 18 inch Pac Nor ss barrel with a 1:9 twist. best load 125gr. partition over 42.5 gr. Varget @ 2850 ft. per sec. best 100yd. group .5 inch. longest whitetail kill 275yds. | |||
