Other than Todd Kindler, there are only three of us who have posted here claiming ownership of the Tactical 20. Are there any more here in this forum who have one of these mean, accurate little calibers? If so, what do ya use to spit out those little 20 cal bullets? What is your favorite load?

Danno, I have a T/C Contender with a VVG 27" tac-20 barrell. I typically shoot the Hornady 33 gr. bullets. I thought my 17 Mach IV was devastating on crows. However, the tac-20 literally eviscerates small varmints. At 4200fps plus it is absolutely astounding what at 33 grain bullet will do to a crow, jackrabbit, turtle or other vermin. I just purchased some Berger 36 gr MEF and will load them soon. I shoot lots of hogs in the fall. I am going to try a head shot on one this year to see what it will do. GWB

Geedubya - Aw-right! VVCG made my Encore barrel, too! Do pretty good work, don't they? http://www.angelfire.com/sd/6mmackley/danno.html I used a MEF on a male rhea gone bad last spring, a neck shot, and had to finish it off with a VMax. Someone told me that Berger uses the same copper on them as the .22's and that they are just too thick to be a good varmint bullet. So, it may work just fine on a pig! Wish I could try the MEF's on deer, but this is Iowa and nothing allowed but shotgun and muzzle loader. The 209x50 barrel does a fine job on them, though. edi - perhaps, when we can varmint hunt elephants zim - Gonna call Hornady again. Called them in May and was told that they were going back to making the 20's in June - perhaps I should have followed up by asking "what year?". Tried some 5mm Craig 30gr bullets today but soon got rained out. Got a 3/8" 3 shot group at 60 yards through the rain. Not too bad under the conditions for guestimating 24gr H335 wouldn't be too much for a bullet made to go about 2500fps. These were probably doing 3400-3500fps. A little tweaking, and they should do pretty darned good. How does one get in touch with Del Bishop to order some of his bullets?

Hey guys, "Kathy" at Hornady sales told me that they are tooling up today (8-26-02) for a twenty caliber run. She said they will be producing bullets by tomorrow, and they will be available in 10 days to two weeks. Lets hope she is right. Mike Johnston

quote:It may help to make up your mind by checking the loads of the PPC or BR vs. Tactical 20 to make a 33gr bullet spit out at 4000fps.
