I tried 3 loads in my new Ruger American .243 today. Nothing really shot all that well.
The 95 Grain Partition over IMR 7828 was real bad.
The 85 Grain Barnes Triple shock over H 4350 was ok at just under 1.25 for avarage from 3 three shot groups.
Also tried a 100 grain Sierra boat tail under H 414 and it was strange with the 1st 3 shots into about 2.50 second into 1.60 and 3rd into just over .75.
Gonna try the partition and the sierra over Imr 4350.
I was not happy with the Redfield Revolution 3x9 i had on it.
It was not near as clear as the Nikkon Pro staff on the other rifle i had...tj3006

My Ruger M77 All-weather rifle in 243Win, which I sold to my S-I-L 7 or 8 years ago, would shoot into one hole with 100 grain Rem corelokt bullets over 40 grains of IMR4350 and WLRP primers. I seated the bullets against the lands. Heath (S-I-L) shoots 58 grain Hornady boattail bullets in it with .25-.5 MOA accuracy using H4895. I wouldn't mind another 243, but it would have to sport a varmint contour barrel.

TJ put some 100 grain bullets through it and see how it likes them, some .243's thrive on 100 grainers. In my opinion IMR 4350 is THE powder in a .243.
I just unwrapped a new Redfield 3-9 scope and put it on a AR 15 in .223. I'm pretty impressed for a bargain scope, make sure you adjust the focus on it, I like mine and I'm usually stuck on Leupolds.

Try IMR4350 behind 95 gr Ballistic Tips. Bet you'll like what you see.

I loaded some 100 grain sierras, over IMR 4350 as well as some 95 grain Partitions.
If the weather is not to bad i will try them tomorrow.
Snellstom ,That's the same scope aright, and i played with the focus quite a lot.
Ya know now that you got me thinking, Its been loose in a safe for a couple of years.
Could be its just got dust on the glass.
Next time you go looking for a budget scope look at the Nikkon. ...tj3006

Mine loves 85hpbt and I4350 at 42 gr, it's not near max. the groups opened up when near max.

100gr sp were ok too.

TJ... How many grains of the different powders were you using? Did you work up the loads or just pick a load from the book for each bullet?

They were 2 grains below max for each bullet,
If i had promising results with any of them i would increase. the weight.
