Well, judging from my shooting today, it looks like my newly purchased Rem 25-06 and 115gr Noslers might be my go to rifle for Wyoming this fall!
In past threads I discovered a link to an article by Russell Thornsberry who seems to equate this rifle/bullet combo to the hammer of Thor on deer. Has anyone had the same impression?
I look at this bullet compared to my 7mm or especially my 30's, and wonder if I will be making the best choice. One thing for sure it is a lot more fun to shoot than my other rifles!

Well I loaned a 257 Roberts to a buddy a few years ago, and he took a really nice mule deer with it. One shot. Same 115 Nosler, but a little less velocity. I think you'll do fine.

That exact combination was my go-to for anything in Texas for many years loaed with 54gr of IMR-7828. I have truely come to understand the 120gr Nosler Partition is a superior performing projectile in every way.

Yes, I have had the same impression with 115's and 120's out of my 25 WSSM.

I've used the 115 or 120 grain bullets (mostly Nosler) for years with a max+ load of IMR4350. Accuracy is always good, and shots on Texas Whitetails and Wyoming Antelope have continually been all I could ask for. Nice combo that I think you will find deadly as long as you do your part.

115 gr Noslers in a 25-06 is very close to the perfect antelope rifle in my opinion.

I think the pair were made for each other. Mine likes any of the 115, 117 or 120's. I think that 115 Partition is the perfect combo though.

You should try the 100 grain hornady. I shoot it with a pile of H4831. It really works well in the 25-05 and holds together for deer. It really zaps them.

For years I have shot the 120gr. Nosler SB. When nosler quit making the SB in the early 90's I scarfed up enough of them to last me at least 2 lifetimes. I still load them to this day and to me they are the greatest deer bullet to ever come down the pike. JMO

My 25-06 really loves this bullet as well. It actually will just SHOOT anything and everything ive tried in it but the 115's are the best performers it usually shoots the 115's into the .2's for a five shot group and holds this out to 500 yds which is the farthest I ever shot it.

The Sierra 120 HPBT is a super performer as well but never used it on game yet.

I use the 115 grn. for deer in wisconsin and am very impressed with it. Have also used 100 grns. When I bought my dies for loading the .25-06, I talked to technical assistance at Cabela's as I wanted neck sizing dies only. The man on the other end of the line told me he had shot the biggest mulie taken in Montana in 1996 using a .25-06.
