Will be reloading for a 25-06 shortly and would like to load it to fill a nitche between some of my other caliber. My main use would be for shooting coyotes with as minimal as possible fur damage. For that reason Ive decided to try the Barnes 90gr. Solid bullet as it comes recommended for such. My question is has anyone used this particular bullet on mainly deer sized animals and do you feel performance is acceptable even though I know there are better selections out there. It states it be good for going through bone on larger animals but Im sure their not referring to shooting a 90grainer on a charging Rhino.
Appreciate any expeiences regarding deer but coyote performance as well. Thanks in advance.Plainsdrifter.

I think you are on the right track. I like one load for everything one gun will do but I would suggest under 100g for dogs and 100 or over for deer. Maybe the 90 solid and TSX 100.
I tried them out of my .25-06 and .257 Roberts on called in coyotes. You’re not going to be happy with the results. Quarter inch hole in and out and the dog runs off to many times. Blood trail is almost non-existent so trailing one is near impossible. No thank you, I get better results with my .22 Hornet. Lawdog

I have shot several coyotes with my 270Win and the 140gr Barnes X. Very minimal pelt damage unless you hit heavy bone which I have not. They seem to act like a solid on coyotes. The last one was about 60 yds away, broadside, and it was a small hole in and out, no sign of expansion.

Lawdog-Gary Was that using Nosler Partitions or Barnes 90gr.Solids. Every shot is differest.Took a coyote last weekend with a 130 Hornady SST into chest and it was fist size which could of been worse?Ive had good luck with 243cal100gr.gamekings with punch in and punch out side shot and no run.My normal coyote rifle is a 20Tactical but I like to use all my rifles.I dont think the 25-06 will ever make a good gopher gun but will just need to eperiment.Appreciate everyones input as it really does help starting out.

What LD said, 1/4 hole in & out. You would be better w/ a heavy for caliber, say a 120gr, min. expansion in & out but better than a solid, kind of like the results w/ your .243. High impact vel. w/ any exp. bulet is going to cause alot of damage.
