I built one of these about a year and a half ago for a friend. After doing some experimental work, he has gone on to shoot it for fun and some long distance work on game. Thus far the rifle has seen in excess of 1500 rounds, all above 3600 fps and some at 4350 fps and it still shoots under half inch without much sweat. We zeroed the rifle at 300 and it goes 7.3" low at 400 with a 65 grain monometal bullet at 4350 fps. ------------------

I wonder how it'd do in an XP-100...

I well remember that article. I was 18, a freshman in college, and excited about any hyper-velocity cartridge in circulation. Ross Seyfried was the author/creator of this intriguing toy. He reported that unless a rigorous barrel cleaning routine was adhered to, performance was less than satisfactory. He specifically recommended using J-B bore cleaner and or similar abrasive bore cleaners every 5-10 shots. Sounds like a lot of trouble, but immense fun factor! Also be mindful of the fact that ww 860 and ww 872 are not canister grade powders, but military suplus powders that can and do vary quite a bit from lot to lot . ------------------
