With very careful and selective shot placement, it'll work, but there are better choices out there for your 6-.222 Mag. The 85 grain Speer spitzer and 85 grain Sierra HPGK are good choices for your velocity range. Ditto for the 90 grain Speer Hot Core, which is soft enough to work well at the speeds your rig is capable of. Any of those will create a wide wound channel while still penetrating adequately. The 85 grain Partition will do OK as well. Sierra still offers an 85 grain Varminter, which is indeed frangible at .243/6mm speeds. But in your 6x47, it will perform more like a game bullet and do the job on a deer quite nicely. Years ago, I used a 6mm-.223 in various formats, and one of the best game getters back then was the 80 Sierra Single Shot Pistol bullet. It's long ago discontinued, but if you have any laying around by chance, you're all set. The 80 grain Nosler BT will work much better than the aforementiond V-MAX, penetrating deeper and retaining more mass. I'd even take the 70 grain Nosler BT over the V-Max. But the 80 grain BT will serve you well. I used it in the 6mm-223s once the supply of the Sierra 80 grain SSP began to dry up. MV of my load in a 14" XP was right at 2700 fps. A customized 788 added another 125 fps to the equation. Your 6x47 should be in the same ballistic ballpark as the 788 I used with perhaps a few more fps depending on specifics of your gun and load. I've used the little 6mms quite a bit and tested many appropriate bullets. And like I said, that 75 grain V-Max WILL work, but if it were me, I'd choose another bullet for deer. What is your twist rate, and what other projectiles do you have on hand? Here's the result of one of my longer shots on game with a pistol. I took this nice catalina in the early 1990s at 230 yards using a custom XP pushing the Sierra 80 grain SSP at 2705 fps. Terminal performance was exceptional. I use 80 grain Rem bullets in mine. Kids borrow it all the time. Usually an exit on broadside shots. If not, the nice mushroom is found just under the skin on the off side.

Hello Bobby. Barrel is 1:10.Do not know if it will stabilize a heavier bullet. It shoots 75 gr.nosle flat base real well. Do not have a full box left and not available ant more. most others are out of stock. Ordered some vmax to give them a try. No Sierra game king not available. Was shooting match king and had a little trouble with a neck shot. Figured vmax was about BT bullet. Little gun is fun to shoot.Good to hear from you.Hope all is well. JP

Good to hear from you! Senile me didn't pay attention to the name on your post earlier LOL. I hope all is well with you. I may be calling you after the holidays. I picked up an older Bullberry Contender barrel in .25BB, and one of the dovetail slots for the forend was butchered badly. Using a couple home remedies, I've made due with it as-is but would feel better if it was properly fixed. ANyway, with a 1:10, the Sierra 85 grain flat-based Varminter should do fine for you, and Midway has them in stock and on sale for under $25 a box. I looked in my stash to see if I had any appropriate 6mm bullets left, but I don't. I would have given you some to try if I did. It may be cutting it a little close with the Nosler 80 grain BT, but they did stabilize just fine in a 1:10 for me. I don't recall the velocity, but I was shooting them from a 15" Ingram Contender barrel in 6x47 AI. (My 6mm-.223s all were 1:8). Here is the link for the Sierras at Midway: https://www.midwayusa.com/prod...010933087?pid=205861 Midway also has the 70 and 80 grain Ballistic Tips for about $35 per hundred. https://www.midwayusa.com/prod...758533930?pid=390986 They also have the 90 grain Speer Hot Core, and it should stabilize in a 1:10. https://www.midwayusa.com/prod...010543781?pid=285688 Bobby Μολὼν λαβέ The most important thing in life is not what we do but how and why we do it. - Nana Mouskouri

Ive use the 6x45 for years, mostly with monolithic bullet such as Barnes, but a number of other bullets in the 75 to 85 grs, it always worked on deer and antelope. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com
