Hi Guys: [Big Grin]

I read the thread in this forum about the new .17 HMR Rimfire caliber. I thought it was a good idea when it came out. After shooting the caliber all I can say is it'a a real hoot to shoot, love it.

I read the three pages about which guns you guys were suggesting. I looked at the Marlin, 3 models, Savage, Ruger, and even Anschutz.. whew glad I came to me senses before I bought that one at over $650.00 Which one did I purchase.... none of the above.

I was glancing at the boxes stacked up when I saw the familiar blue & white box of CZ. I opened the box and saw a very nice model 452. Nice wood, checkering, Great trigger pull, regular barrel not the varmint.... sold $339.00.

To top it off I picked up a Nikon ProStaff 3x9 FOR $139.00 I also picked up a nice set of Millet engraved scope ring mounts $26.99 plus two boxes of shells TOTAL $565.00 tax included.... not a bad deal..

I mounted the scope, sighted it in at 25 yards to get on paper at 100 yards. It was getting near dusk so I was rushing my shots. At the 100 yard range two shots, adustment, two more shots adjust to 1 in. high at 100 yards. Five quick shots, 7/8 in... wow what a neat little caliber.

Another interesting fact, I must have at least 10 Leupolds, and a few Burris and Weaver Grand Slams. This Nikon is the sharpest and brightest scope I have ever used. Go figure, I don't know about durability, but there is no recoil to speak of in the .17 HRM.... at $139.00 it worked for me.

Try a .17 HRM.... it IS everything it's cracked up to be.... and the CZ 452 is a real sweetheart for the price, but you guys probably all ready know that. [Roll Eyes]

Regards... Jim P.

PA:

I have both the Ruger Heavy Barrel 17 and the Marlin, Stainless one.

I also have a CZ 452 in 22 Long Rifle.

If I had to do it over again, my first choice would be the CZ. I do like the other two, but the CZ over the Marlin. I also like the Ruger Stainless and Grey Laminate stock over the CZ, but I think the CZ is the better rifle, regardless of how well my Ruger does shoot.

Hope you two have a lot of enjoyable shooting ahead of you.

Hi Seafire:

Thanks for the come back. I was ready to buy the Ruger, because I do have many Ruger products. I really like the the black laminate stock, but I DON'T like the new gun grey color. I was looking for a SS in the black laminate stock... no go.

I really like the CZ, only thing I dislike about it is the clip sticking out the bottom..

Yeah well, ....

Regards.. Jim P.

I picked up a 17 HMR over the weekend--a CZ--and the best the little POS would shoot was 3/8" at 200 yards...guess I'll be forced to keep it! Maybe it'll do better if the wind isn't blowing! [Eek!] [Big Grin]

Good Hunting,
