As I promised earlier, I now have this rifle in my possession, so I thought I would post a few pictures and report on this wonderful little jewel.

The wood turned out as expected, just first notch and I've decided to leave the wood alone as it is not as grainy as most Steyrs. I topped it with a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 and so far I've shooting factory Hornaday loads with 156gr bullets.

It shoots these factory rounds in a cloverleaf at 100. The accuracy for a full-stocked rifle is just WOW. Enjoy the pictures.

Ok then,

It looks like it's time to vacuum your carpets.

And that is a beautiful rifle.

Beautiful rifle. I see you have the original Steyr scopemount system. You have been loyal to the style. European rifle, kaliber, scope and mounts. You are indeed a connoisseur.

I've owned Merkels, Sakos, Sauers but never a Steyr.

Corrected that last month.

The Mountain Rifle is in 308 Win.

The Mannlicher Classic is 270 Win.

I am very impressed with both.

I have four other Mannlicher stocked rifles, a cutsom Mauser 98, a Merkel Jagd Stutzen, a custom Sako and a Sako 85 Bavarian Carbine. My hands are not particularly large. The slim nature of the stock at the magazine really works in regards to balance and feel in the hand.

Nailed a hoglet with the 308 on its maiden outing.

I carried the Classic on two hunts just between Christmas and New Year's day, but the critters did not co-operate. Be later this month before I get to try again. Can't hardly wait.

I once owned a Steyr Forester in 300 Win Mag. Wonderfully accurate rifle with that classic butter knife bolt handle. The mannlicher version you and GW are sporting are gorgeous.

I was at the Steyr distribution center in Alabama for an open house, and the CEO offered to hand select a piece of wood for me. It was offered at only a slight up charge.

Was that Herr Doctor Ernst Reichmyer? A good guy, for sure. I was fortunate enough to sit next to him at dinner at our 04/2014 MCA yearly meeting at the Tulsa Gun Show. Herr Doctor flew in from Alabama just to spend some time with us and to see the Tulsa Show. As I said, a really good guy.
