My small calibre rifle. A Steyr Zephyr, made in 64. One of 5-6000 produced. It has the upgraded stock and special steel barrel. Making this the rarest of them. Most "upgraded" the triggers to double triggers, while this keeps its single two-stage trigger.

I used to lust after that rifle in the Stoeger's catalog when I was a kid.

There is now a Steyr Zepher II. Does anyone know anything about it, such as is it available in the US, price, etc.?

That is a sweet looking piece. Would love to have something similar in 7mm-08

Beautiful rifle and one of the most desirable .22's to own. My first Zephyr is incredibly accurate. Best to date with my 1963 made single trigger carbine at the MCA yearly meeting in 2016, was six people, six shots at 100 yards in a slight wind - .6". If you plan to shoot it, please take the time to try a wide variety of ammo and be sure to "season" the barrel with 5 rounds of new variety before shooting for group. Don't settle for so-so accuracy Also, stay with standard velocity target type ammo and skip Remington. Of all things, my Zephyr prefers older PMC Target ammo. This is the last type I tried as it is not known as great stuff. Please keep us posted on how your great treasure shoots and thanks for showing us your find. RE: Steyr Zephyr II. I was at the Steyr plant in Birmingham, AL in July, 2016. The folks there were strangely silent about the Zephyr II although they had some ad brochures. NRA Life Member DRSS-Claflin Chapter Mannlicher Collectors Assn KCCA IAA
