As a kid, my dad gave me a Remington 700BDL in 6mm, back in 1966. It only had a 20 inch barrel, but drove tacks. For the past 25 years I have wanted another, and finally broke down and got one. A little heavy of a gun for deer hunting, but will work well for coyotes and such. I ordered the Remington 700VLS in 6mm. and Should be in sometime this next week. Already got all the brass, dies, bullets, etc. So I'm just waiting. I'm wanting to get back to a rifle that is fun to shoot and not hard on the shoulder, so I can spend more time at the range. My 7mag won't allow for long shooting sessions and the 6mm will take anything we have here in TExas.

The 6mm's are my favorite for centerfire target shooting and varmints. Tell us how it shoots. Join the NRA

I hear you on the 7 mag. I spent some time at the range about two weeks ago and ended up shooting a 7 mag 20+ times. I didn't exactly have a bruised shoulder, but it was uncomfortable the next day. I like shooting big guns, but not a lot. And yes I know the 7mm Mag isn't THAT big of a gun. I would get laughed at in the big bore forum. =) --->Happiness is nothing but health and a poor memory<---Albert Schweitzer --->All I ever wanted was to be somebody; I guess I should have been more specific<---Lily Tomlin

WEll, after a time, I ended up putting a Kleingunther muzzle brake on the 7mag. It actually has the recoil of my 222 mohawk. But I am getting tired of the muzzle blast. I'm not that small at 6'2" and 200lbs, but I don't have enough mass in the shoulders to take continued recoil from the 7mag unless the brake is on. That's what brought me back to the caliber I grew up with and took my first 2 dozen deer or so before I moved away from home. I'll let you guys know how it shoots. It is suppose to be delivered to my gunsmith this week. It's like Christmas when I was 4 years old. C'mon, C'mon,C'mon,C'mon,C'mon,
